Houston-Programm

Vielleicht interessiert es ja einige von euch was wir überhaupt in Houston machen - hier seht ihr das offizielle Programm der Study Tour 2006 (zum übersetzen war ich zu faul):

Friday, September 29
11:15 am: departure from Leipzig
19:35 pm: arrival in Houston, TX


Saturday, September 30
Orientation tour through Houston
7 pm: invitation by Nancy and John Boles to their home for an informal American-style cook-out and pool party

Sunday, October 1
11 am: attendance of service at Lakewood (Mega)Church
5 pm: attendance of church service Christ the King Lutheran Church, followed by reception on the occasion of German unification

Monday, October 2: Rice University
11 am: meeting with Professor Ira C. Colby, Dean of the Graduate School of Social Work, University of Houston; discussion with representatives of the Office of Community Projects
1 pm: attendance graduate seminar
4 pm: meeting with Professor Mikics and American Studies students

Tuesday, October 3
9 am: tour of Rice University Campus conducted by Professor John B. Boles, William P. Hobby Professor of History, Rice University
10:30 am: Prof. John B. Boles, “The History of Houston,” at Miner Lounge of the Rice Memorial Center
noon: luncheon and meeting with Wes Morris, Prof. Klaus Weissenberger, and students of Hanszen College, Rice University
6 pm: reception by Consulate General Rainer Münzel, at Consulate General of Germany on occasion of national holiday

Wednesday, October 4: information on assistance extended in Houston for the victims of Hurricane Katrina
Personnel and Volunteer Initiatives Program, Rogene Gee Calvert, Director
Spokespersons from the city: Cindy Gabriel, Director of Communications, Joint Hurricane Housing Taskforce, City of Houston
Meeting with Frank Michel, Communications Director for Mayor Bill White, City of Houston
Meeting with Mayor Bill White and members of the Houston City Council: Shelley Sekula-Gibbs, M.D., Adrian Garcia, M.J. Khan

Thursday, October 5
10 am: Karin Dicks, AMD Community Affairs Department, on AMD’s support of Hurrican Katrina victims in Austin, Houston & San Antonio
2 pm: visit at Menil Collection
4 pm: invitation to David Mikics’ home

Friday, October 6
LULAC League of United Latin American Citizens
National Association for the Advancement of Colored People

Saturday, October 7
Field trip to Johnson Space Center and to
Hong Kong Mall, a two story Asian shopping mall with unique food stores, west of Houston

Sunday, October 8
Visit at the Houston Fine Arts Museum
Liederabend at Christ the King Church with Gotthold Schwarz (Leipzig) followed by a party at Robert and Kathy Moore’s home

Monday, October 9: Rice University
9:00-10:15 am: Rick Wilson, Professor of Political Science, Rice University: “Rebuilding Social Capital Among Katrina Refugees”
10:30-11:45 am: Michael O. Emerson, Professor of Sociology, “Race Relations and Racial Diversity in Houston (with attention to religion) and New Orleans”
Lunch in the Faculty Club, courtesy the Dean of Humanities
1:30-3:15 pm: Steve Klineberg, Professor of Sociology, Rice University: “Demographic Changes in Recent Decades in Houston, including effects of refugees from Hurricane Katrina”
3:30-4:30 pm: Prof. John B. Boles, William P. Hobby Professor of History: “Diversity in American Higher Education”

Wir alle hoffen natürlich das der Paul eine schöne Zeit hat in houston, das er es schafft die USA zu infiltrieren und Frieden in die Welt zu bringen, und neben Frieden und so nem Quatsch wären Advils ganz, cool ... Butterfinger vielleicht scheiße kann man vielleicht einen ganzen Wal Mart verschiffen?! Bud Light ist wichtig 50 Flaschen oder so sei keine Memme verflucht nochmal schnall dem Hartmut was auf den Rücken!!!!
